We love so many things about Proenza Schouler this season - their mega oversized silhouettes, liberal use of handwork and embellishment (we are counting the days until the bird-embroidered sweatshirt from the Fall collection arrives), and intricate beautiful brocades. Refined over-the-top.
But for the launch of their denim collection this season, the designers took a different approach: "Everything on the jean is subtle. Nothing is loud. Discretion was key." The styles which can be described as "classic," are cut in the most basic of denim washes - dark indigo, black, white, and bleached. In terms of embellishement, there is none - with only unassuming, matte-finished hardware, the jeans are nearly anonymous except upon closer inspection - an almost imperceptible logo stamped quietly on a leather patch on the back waist. It's exactly what we want in a pair of jeans. Refined anonymity.
